If you make it back to NY/NJ try Branch Brook Park on the edge of Newark – it has Chery Trees to rival Washington. I think the Star Ledger recently had a piece detailing the different type of cherry trees there and the story of how the were planted.

And the leaves on the cherry tree outside my kitchen door are just turning lacy ready to fall – here in Tasmania where winter would be on its way if not for global warming! Washington looks stunning with that lovely spring sky

Thanks for posting photos of ACTUAL cherry blossoms! I work near the White House and often eat lunch in the park across the street, and I can’t tell you how many tourists I’ve seen taking photos of the magnolia trees there, believing them to be the famous cherry blossoms.
