Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of designers, their tech editors, and editors, errata in knitting patterns are almost unavoidable. We do keep abreast of errors as best we can and when a knitter calls my attention to a potential error, I send along the questions to my editors as well as investigate on my own. I try to keep the ravelry pattern page updated on errata, so please check there first before starting a pattern. In the Starflower Hat case, the errata Laurie Kramer pointed out have been posted: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/starflower-hat

In answer to Laurie Kramer's problem with the Starflower hat. It isn't you. The problem starts with row 7. The marker needs to be moved back 1 stitch and thereafter there is a need for a 2nd move. I didn't keep track because after tearing back my work 2 times I just starting making the corrections on the run. Also notice that in the decrease section, the instruction goes from row 1 to rows 3-5. I skipped to row 3 and it was fine. I love the look of many of these patterns and was very excited to start the Starflower hat, but was very frustrated with the errors that caused rework. I will put this book aside until an errata comes out.

I saw and heard you speak at the book signing on Thursday at Lion Brand Studio. Your designs are beautifully elegant and you are personally charming. Just loved the samplers you passed around! I'm convinced - the book is ordered and I plan to focus on finer yarns and smaller needles for awhile.

Hello Connie,

I just found your blog today via the lion Brand blog; I've been admiring your patterns for months on Ravelry, and am pleased to attend your lecture on Thursday night! If you'll have copies of your book on hand, I'd love to purchase a volume that night.

Cheers,
Lissa

Got the book, got the needles, bought the yarn and finished 'Professoressa' (picture on Ravelry somewhere - Pamela_Bee). Brilliant pattern! The sleeves fit nicely into the armholes without any jiggery-tweakery, the neckband slots into place, the front panels look terrific and the whole knitting experience was great. Logical, classy and fun.

I'm off to do the 'Raindrop Cardigan'. Great book - you did so well and I'm grateful to you for writing it.

Kind regards,
Pam

Gorgeous book! I purchased both the digital & paperback versions...
I do have a question that I am hoping you can help with...
I've done a swatch of the Starflower Hat and worked two 20 row repeats, but the lace pattern is not turning out correctly. I've searched for possible errata online with no luck. Can you take a look at the lace pattern? I think the problem might be in rows 5 or 7. I will try to graph it out and see if I can locate the (likely MY) error.
I hope you can help!
Terrific job on the book, the patterns ARE GORGEOUS! Loving it!
