Fall IK preview out

The Fall Interweave Knits preview is up and I can finally share my Farmer’s Market Cardigan.

This is knit in Lorna’s Laces Green Line Worsted in the Cedar colorway. I loved the Green Line Worsted. It softened up and relaxed after blocking and the nearly solid colors are gorgeous. In fact, I have another Farmer’s Market Cardigan for me on the needles right now in the Solitude colorway. My Joss Whedon loving heart almost went with the Firefly color, which is a brighter yellow with a tinge of green — lovely, but perhaps not the best hue for my skin tone.

I snapped a couple of quick pictures of it on me before sending it off to Interweave.

The shawl collar is knit in a reversible diagonal cable that tilts in opposite directions on either side of the center and trims the tops of the generous, folded up pockets. I didn’t want to detract from the drama of the collar, so the rest of the cardigan is knit in plain stockinette (great TV knitting!) with turned hems for the edging.

My friend, Melissa, has a great coat in this issue too.

I love it (as always!) and am planning to make it my first knit from the issue. I am totally obsessed with pockets in sweaters.

    Gorgeous cardi.

Iris loves Firefly and Eureka. She hasn't asked what a consort is, thankfully.

I love it and am working on the gauge swatch. And I am trying to figure it out since it seems weird… but do you knit continental style or English? I am a continental knitter and I know I usually need to use needles about 2-3 sizes down, but this time I am getting closer and closer to the gauge in the pattern and I just want to make sure it is right! Thanks!

    Connie,

You are very very talented! I love your work, especially this cardigan. I am a little behind everyone else and just received my interweave knits magazine for the fall. I am looking to start this cardigan as soon as I order the yarn online. Is there a blog for knitters when/if we get stuck? I think I understand most of the pattern, but the wave makes me nervous. I am typically an intermediate level knitter so hopefully it is not too challenging for me.

    Thank you!
